actually building your own toaster or cell phone would prove 3 to 4 times more expensive as buying the components in small quantities would be incredibly expensive...
beyond that, there's nothing wrong with not wanting to build your own system, and there's plenty pc options out there for that... the point being made is that if you wanted to, and if you couldn't afford a mac, you very well could build your own box, and inexpensively at that - which is a foreign idea in the electronics workld in general.
Another point on your cute lil rant is that I've built plenty of systems that Win XP worked flawlessly on without requiring driver updates, and building them took about 2 or 3 hours... probably a total of $700 spent including my time. That's the beuty of it.
Granted, I'm not the biggest fan of M$, but my experience with apple (especially when i was a general consultant) is definitely not all that much better. Their shit stinks just as bad.
