From this thread I can see a similarity between sports and the design profession.
Whenever we as designers see something very well done we have a fond appreciation for it, we are very well aware of the hard work that must have gone into it. However, there are people who can't relate simply because they do not know what goes on in the world of a designer. They may think "that's just another website, what does something like that cost? 500 bucks?"
Little to they know about the countless hours of concepting, design, typography, sound mastering, tweening, file size optimization, databasing, coding...etc etc.
Not trying to diss you, radiosilent, but I think your view of sports somewhat parallels this.
