I did do the "logo", although since they weren't happy with their current logo and didn't want it on there, I just came up with a type treatment. Youre right though, it could use a little more spacing there.
As far as the serif/sans serif text body copy, I had seen another site using Georgia or Times headers with a sans body which I really liked so I tried it here.
