It's far easier to push timeframes out if you plan that into your contract, yes. However, if you have a good arrangement with the client try to accommodate them on this round of work while sending over an addendum to your contract covering just this point. Give a solid business reason for it but make sure to point out that is was your fault for not having that language in the original.
We handle this all the time here when a sales person fucks us on the sow.
