  an important point to note is that only a handful of manufacturers make the drives themselves, a lot of companies just make the enclosure and package it up. if you want it on the cheap, just get internal drives and enclosures separately and put them together yourself. it's easy and you get exactly the drive inside that you want. check out newegg for good deals. i've had good luck with seagate, western digital, hitachi, IBM.

  • Also, there are "Server Grade Drives" – 2x as expensive, but less likely to failraf
  • Seagate drives are the best. Only brand I use.p-mac
