I don't think its nearly as bad as all that. Get your S's in the right places and use the correct terminology and it'll be fine. 'Brits' get incredibly stroppy about this kind of thing, but I'm not seeing anything particularly american about it. Just reads like the kind of thing it is.
- although that said, generally environmental advice for visitors will come written in slang on a beer mat with some pipe tobacco in most English caseskelpie
