Oh, you're from BCN – one question: did you notice people in Portugal pretend not to understand Spanish? Every time I asked "¿Hablas Español?" the answer was always a definite "No!".
My cousin, the one who had lived there said it was normal for them to act this way. It was strange as every Portuguese person I knew before understood Spanish without problems.

    • Never tried this.. I use english as default language :) Portuguese are the most friendly and kind people I've ever met.Amarux
    • Hardcore catalans pretend to not speak Spanish . If you're South American Spanish will bring not bring you closer but further apart.soundofreason
    • Portuguese from Portugal sound closer to German than Brazilian Portuguese. In South America it's easy for Brazilians to hold a conversation...soundofreason
    • ... with South American Spanish.
In some cases it's even easier for a Brazilian to speak to a South American than to a Portuguese.
