I agree, you should sign up on all of course, but

I'm going to say Myspace is number one by far.
(yet no one visits it anymore)

There is no other site that made an effort to take its place yet.
Yes, there are tons of sites for bands/ producers, but not available to the numbers myspace offers at least.

I love lastFM and I open an account there, but its not designed to promote bands in the same way. If you dont have a strong following already (my personal case) you will stay unknown for months, with very very few plays, since LastFM relies on other people listening to your tracks before it will pair your music with similar artists on their radio channels, until that happens you will stay in dark for months, maybe years.

Facebook, will never be a viable option till they (facebook) make an effort to incorporate music on their site. You can promote events yes, but not music (not at the level of other sites at least.)

    Soundcloud
I got turned to this recently by someone here, and I love it. basically is Vimeo but for audio. Their player looks sweet and you can embed your tracks/ playlist anywhere you want (just like w vimeo or youtube).

Because of the drop box feature, a lot of labels are receiving music through soundcloud to sing new artists up, and tons of famous producers have unsigned tracks up for previews, including tracks in progress asking "their friends" for critics.
There is also groups for styles of music, where you can submit tracks for people to listen, its pretty cool.

But at the moment, soundcloud does not have myspace numbers, but you can include their player on your facebook page

    • thanks for the soundcloud link... looks promising!SigDesign
