That's bullshit — especially since you've asked the boss to sort this shit out for you. Sounds like a cunt if you ask me. I would be rightly pissed off if it happened to me too.
With regard to the amount of time off, yeah it seems like a lot, but thats you're frikkin choice and no-one else's! I've got 3 kids and I've only had 1-2 weeks max off each time wifey popped them out. But if you want to take more time off your employer should have least tried to help out somehow.
Month and a half is a long time off though... thinking about it I'm not sure if I would expect my employer to give that to me really. But you said it was all cool back in may? Fuck'em then. Take the time....... and then leave a dead rat somewhere hard to find, on your way out the door.
