Ability to paste vector shapes into a text box (to use as bullets etc) just like Freehand. Master pages a la Freehand. Make the swatches panel work like Freehand so you can replace colours. Make the align panel work like Freehand. And give us a Freehand transform panel. Especially the little 'copies' text field. Get rid of the pathfinder panel and give us back crop/punch/join/instersect as God intended them to work.
In fact if Adobe could bring Illustrator up to the level of awesomeness MM achieved with Freehand seven or eight years ago that would be awesome.
That said Illustrator CS4 is a pretty nice bit of kit. Especially save as pdf, the slices tool, and save for web, all of which have meant that I can largely drop Photoshop for mocking up html sites = smaller files and faster editing.
I just miss Freehand *sniff*
- And add a first line leading option to the paragraph panel rather than needing to dig through the type menu for it.thatboyneave
