It's about time our leaders started listening to scientists instead of the rowdy cable-watching rednecks:
UNITED NATIONS — China laid down a significant plan for curbing greenhouse gases on Tuesday, outlining ambitious goals of planting enough forest to cover an area the size of Norway and generating 15 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources within a decade... Obama has announced a target of returning to 1990 levels of greenhouse emissions by 2020, but action awaits Congress passing legislation to make those goals the law of the land.
Even with the economic slowdown, the dangers of climate-altering heat waves, droughts, melting glaciers, loss of the Greenland ice sheet and other calamities are fast approaching, said Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change... "The science leaves us with no room for inaction now," he said.
Pachauri said major greenhouse gas cuts must be made by 2015 to avoid many of these dangers.
- its good to be clean but if tis to expensive, well then its not feaseable, or population control, since pop growth is major cause********
- major cause********
- You should learn to write and form sentences correctly.DrBombay
- Dealing with the effects afterward are much more expensive than prevention.joeth
- hence number one thing to do is focus on populations********
- "Man cannot destroy the Earth, only God can do that."-Rep. Shimkus... this won't be easy.IRNlun6
- Focus on populations? What are you suggesting here?IRNlun6
- yea touchy subject for most. but our pop growth has to slow down, and be more managebale. more peopel more greenhouse gases,********
- less resources to such up Co2, healthcare costs is a good natural helper to control growth.********
- id rather let the law of nature/free economics help curb the pop, but soemday im afraid we will need to control it********
- You are a confused individual.DrBombay
- I agree that we will need to address population soon, but right now...joeth
- shifting to clean and renewable energy deserves more or our attention.joeth
- Also, smart urban planning designed for growth will help in dealing with population. (closer cities, less car-oriented)joeth
- That's a pretty radical proposal that I think you would agree would be met with much resistance.IRNlun6

- yea a lot can be done, just primary cause is population. lot of ppl get caught up in the greenthink and u get corn ethanol.********
- ethanol. the good intentions haev to be thought out thats all********
