yeah wtf all this talk of slugs?
just enter your desired amount for bleeds in the bleed fields and your page's bleed is cropped to that mark. that is assuming your art is already extending off page dimensions.
the bleed won't show if you view the pdf in acrobat unless you go into crop settings or print production.
if you want to double check you bleed and reg marks a good trick is drop the PDF back into illy and open a page.
