it's not about what you/us/them wants. it what the brand needs. ikea made their typographic decision based on utility. print catalogs are expensive/wasteful to produce. if the eschew it based on an all digital catalog, what type of constraints are there going to be? they saw that a big part of their visual identity, the futura typeface, was lost online, and made the call to switch to verdana. is this shortsighted? probably. is it functional? totally.
