it's just about knowing who you're speaking to, in some cases you're just doing it for the lulz, where the target isn't overly scrutinising the formalness of the product [like when my mom does her grocery shopping] but then there is a whole world of products and services where these things do matter [of course to a degree, nothing irks me more than a designer trying to engage me in helping them to decide between 3 nearly identical typefaces just with slightly different x heights]
