    honestly at the level of performance each can offer, the difference comes down to a few things:

    1) price, if that matters to you. quality canon glass costs you, but not as much as similar quality nikon glass.

    2) feel. when i was first shopping for cameras it was the 20d vs the d70 maybe? regardless canon felt better in my hand ,the thumb wheel and finger wheel made more sense than two wheels controlled up by the shutter release. i just liked the way the canon felt, so i've been with canon since.

    3) don't trust blogs, a lot are fanboys. nobody is going to ask you what brand of camera you got a good shot with, they're going to ask you how you got such a rad shot.

    4) lighting. dunno what type of shooting you'll be doing, but canon's IR system differs vastly from nikon's SB flashes. SBs can be used on canons, however, with a bit of trickery.
