  hey kona found this interesting tidbit on recycling cars:

  "recycling cars sends between 3 and 4.5 million tons of shredder residue to landfills every year. This material includes everything from plastic to glass to rubber and can represent as much as 25 percent of the weight of a car that is not recycled."

  So assuming they are actually doing the right thing and trying to recycle these cars, there still will be alot of waste leftover. And again consider the fact that people are only turning in cars that run. Sure there are going to be some shit boxes :) but I'm sure there are lots more that with a little work could last for years longer.
  I am sure there are plenty of low income people who would love to have some of these cars....I know this to be fact becuase I have donated to charities in the past that do this very thing.
