"Hitler demanded several items that he knew would worsen relations with Poland, which included the admittance of Danzig into the German Reich, the building a German highway or a German railway through the Polish Corridor, and the Polish participation in the Anti-Comintern Pact.
Hitler knew he must constantly keep demands a bit above Polish tolerance, but yet reasonable enough to stretch out the negotiations, so that he could keep the issue open while Germany prepared for war."

He demanded an exterritorial German highway through Poland... Not something you normally allow your neighbour.

    • like the one that ran through the former east germany to berlin...Greedo
    • The Berlin highway was West Ger. funded (hence higher quality than commie ones) but not exterritorial.raf
    • But I might be wrong.. that's what I remember from going through that highway in 1988raf
    • Just looked it up, it wasn't exterritorial, you're right, but you had to complete travel asap, no stopping.Greedo
