When they were getting ready to fire up the lunar module and leave the moon, there was an electrical malfunction, and a fuse had blown. Not having a spare anything on the craft meant that Neil Armstrong had to improvise. He used the metal lid of a pen that he had with him and jammed it in the hole, making the circuit and allowing them to leave the surface. That's some good fortune and thinking right there...
