    It makes sense, but I believe that you have no self-respect in these jobs. That's not really a judgement, as I was there before too. It's more of a statement about how you are treated and how you take crap from other people.

    "Taking an order and serving a coffee, or, hell, making some double-whip latte blah blah blah is exactly what they signed up to do, and it can be done with little need for displaying emotion or making sure I'm happy."

    "exactly what they signed up to do" doesn't make much sense to me. In most of these jobs, you're serving a customer, and you better do it well. I don't think there is a huge discrepancy between being a waiter and working at Starbucks (let's say) when it comes to what someone "expects" the job will be like.

    And: people always complained to me about how I wasn't happy enough for them.

    • I'm just saying, jobs like that are in-and-out. there's no need to do more than the bare minimum in most cases.mg33
