I typically do not tip anyone but bartenders and waiters/waitresses. They are working for sub-minimum wages because that's how that industry works. I made $2.13 an hour waiting tables in college - what is it at these days?

I just don't believe in tipping someone for doing a job that does not require them to really go out of their way to serve me, AND one in which they are making at least the national minimum wage for any job. Taking an order and serving a coffee, or, hell, making some double-whip latte blah blah blah is exactly what they signed up to do, and it can be done with little need for displaying emotion or making sure I'm happy.

    Does this make sense?

    • WTF THAT LOW?
      ********
    • that's still the minimum7point34
    • I used to make 15$/hour as garbageman
      ********
    • digdre - I looked it up for Illinois - it's $4.60 an hour for waiters.mg33
