  Its not stupid at all actually. Lance & Conty arent getting on and theres been much discussion about who is actually leading Astana.

  There are two Astana teams; Team Lance Astana & Team Astana.
  When they pick up the hotel bill every morning, they pick up one bill for the entire team, ad a separate one for Lance.

  You never know what the strategy, but one thing is for sure, Lance is no domestique.
