actually in the last 5 job interviews ive gone to the salary being offered was less that half of my previous salary and that these companies are even willing to offer the gig to me in the understanding that once i find another gig for higher im out... and the reality of that is they are scarred to offer work out to senior level people as a higher salary is attached to it but also they are offeringthe work as a triple tier development job that really is more hat than one and is equal to a senior level position with slight changes to the job duties...
to them they take away travel and claim since there is none the job level is less and therefore the salary is less no matter the level of experience.
its a lose lose situation for both parties.
