When I was learning flash, I started out just trying to replicate what i did in HTML in flash, nothing particularly flashy.
Then I picked up some books, and did every stupid little tutorial in them. Learning how to keep things organized for yourself in flash is half the battle (well, its some of the battle anyway, maybe not half).
Then, I think it just takes some time... work in flash as much as you can, and things start to fall together. Tutorials are extremely important too, to see how other people set things up, etc. etc.
I hated it at first, just stick with it.
Newstoday has its fair share of Flash programmers here to help you through any rough spots along the way too.
