  if you can't be bothered with swfObject and you should, it's a peace of piss with examples to download with it., you'd be better off leaving the Dreamweaver javascript there than a straight embed/object.

  swfObject will easily let you add an alternate image or text/ player redirection etc as well as showing correctly across browsers and once you've done it once.....
