"What about the people that are simply afraid it will be harder to get a gun in the future"
It should be. When's the last time you heard a gun was used for a good cause?

    • No it shouldn't be. And to answer your question...the other night on the news. A senior citizen protected his home by shooting a burglar.designbot
    • shooting a burglar.designbot
    • and the burglar had what a salami as a weapon? :DDrBombay
    • DB, if you lived in the city, you may have a different opinion.DrBombay
    • OK for that one example I can list 100's of random acts of gun violence.fooler2
    • Dr.B I just moved from Downtown Minneapolis. I was in the heart of downtown in an area that wasn't great...but not ghetto either.designbot
    • either. We lived there over a year without any mishaps which I am thankful for. I would always see homeless people roaming my area though.designbot
    • neighborhood though. The ghetto was just on the other side of the freeway so we had stragglers.designbot
    • homeless people don't have guns.DrBombay
    • Yeah homeless people are mostly pretty harmless. The gangsta kids walking my area, not so much.designbot
    • Was a gun ever actually pulled on you, or just paranoid?DrBombay
    • No, but it is good to know you can protect your family if you need to....and trust me I don't ever want to be put in that position.designbot
    • position. If you had kids you might feel differently.designbot
    • Paranoia will destroy yaDrBombay
    • Never had a gun pulled on me. Did have someone try and break through my girlfriends (now my wife) window though.designbot
    • I was robbed at gunpoint 2 years ago, didn't change my mind one bit.DrBombay
    • I agree about being overly paranoid. Hopefully you can see by all my posts I am extremely mildly tempered.designbot
    • ...super laid back. If anyone should own a gun it should be people with similar characteristics. Not those paranoid fools you speak of.designbot
    • paranoid fools who you speak of.designbot
    • Wow robbed at gunpoint. Well I can respect your view in light of that. Props on that.designbot
    • get a baseball bat and a dog if you feel the need to protect your family.fooler2
    • I was pretty ripped and in a suit when it happened, probably helped out a lot. :)DrBombay
    • most hand guns are often used on or by a family member.fooler2
    • fooler, I see what your saying. I think these are good ways to protect yourself as well.designbot
    • Dr.B, nice :) So you gave them your money and they split?designbot
    • Yup, about $125 bucks.DrBombay
    • If I would have pulled a pistol, I probably would have gotten capped. That is my point.DrBombay
    • everyone has this romantic view of what they would do if their family was threatened, its mostly bullshit.DrBombay
    • I wouldn't have pulled a gun either. You made a smart decision to give them the money. But what if it wasn't over money, but you had to protect someone you loved from getting raped or something similar?designbot
    • what if it was to protect someone you loved from getting raped or something horrible? A bat is not going to stop some huge guy(s)designbot
    • Stop with the "what if's" man, please?DrBombay
    • or even a skinny guy if he's on PCP. A gun on the other hand (even if you don't kill them) will stop them.designbot
    • You can convince yourself of anything with "what ifs"DrBombay
    • okay, okay I'll stop :)designbot
    • I admire your view, actually.designbot
    • Do you get a lot of pcp addicts in suburban colorado? ;)DrBombay
    • haha, no the hippies prefer meth :)designbot
    • dobs knows pain. he grew up poor in the ghetto and understands life more than us all.
      ********
    • You're a cunt.DrBombay
