i didn't get mine til i was approaching 30 myself...was living in the city, and frankly, subway and streetcars and cabs pretty much took care of any transportation needs....
then my wife and i started thinking about buying a house, starting a family etc....at that point, it was made pretty clear to me that hailing a cab if she was about to deliver a baby wasn't going to cut it....went out and got my license...
found it nerve wracking a bit to learn in the middle of a big city...but you get over that pretty fast....
now i can't even imagine not having my license and a car....
we live in the burbs now, and although i don't have far to drive to get to work, or to drop off the kids at school, it still beats waiting for a bus....

    so.
    motivation for you?
    simple.
it's relatively easy getting a drivers license.
    it's not expensive either.
once you get the hang of driving, its pretty damn fun.
the feeling of independence is amazing. seriously. no more depending on others for transportation.....no more buses, no more waiting for the subway/streetcar etc....go anywhere at anytime.
the knowledge that if your wife or children need a ride at any time, for any reason, you can do it.

now go get it man...there's no reason why not, and a zillion why you should....

make an appointment tomorrow for driving lessons if you need em....
    get comfortable with driving....
you can do it man...it's not that fucking hard.....easier than you imagine....

best of luck dude...and let us know when you've got it...
    cheers
