there is no simple answer in our industry.
It depends on the attitude of the agency, and the position you are shooting for. If you are looking for art director spots, I'd wear something dressier then for a designer job. You never want to look too up-tight in the creative industry, so unless you are interviewing for the account side of things, skip the suit/tie. I have semi-long hair, so it makes dressing up look relatively hip no matter what I do. I usually wear either a really nice pair of dark denim jeans (with a belt!), nice (polished) loafers, and a nice button up with sleeves rolled.
