i'd go with a sans for younger kids.
my 3 year old has trouble identifying serifs because i think they confuse the forms of the letters in his mind. you need a simple form with little ornamentation for smaller readers.
now if it's for an older kid, one that already can read, i doubt it's of any real importance, so just go with what you think is aesthetically pleasing/stylistically consistent
- Yup, my 3 year old is the same way. They are still learning, they don't need to be confused by the likes of serifs :)designbot
