Awards are only so good in as much as they recognize an aspiration to be innovative. However since many awards are juried by 'pals' and cliques you tend to see the same crap awarded (even if it is a folly).
Brands that are too ROI driven will miss the boat in that humans inherently want to be entertained and inspired- which leads to brand loyalty.
I think a health disregard for awards whilst feeling good for a short while is a good attitude.
