  do you have a 2nd screen? if so plug your mpb into it and check if everything is fine,
  backup your work and call a genius to bitch about the lack of quality of macbook's screen

  I had a similar problem on my pc laptop but I advise you to do what I did, I opened it and verified if the connectors (screen > motherboard) were still in place, I found out that one was slightly off, pushed it in, used some paper scotch and it was as new :)
