The whole cross/crucifixion as an 'icon' has always left me with feelings of strong ambivalence.
On the one hand, I certainly understand and respect the meaning and value of it.
But on the other hand, it is interesting to see this instrument of a torturous death being applied as a visual object in all kinds of common products and situations.
It would be the equivalent, with a similar icon from our time, if people would walk around in nice Sterling silver necklaces with electric chair pendants.
