    Sicily:

    Palermo - Hotel Orientale. It's a must-see even if you don't stay there. The strangest hotel I have been to. 300 years old monumental weird place, dream-like. Mussolini stayed there and spoke from the balcony, they say.
    I have some fantastic photos from there, bought a wide angle lens just to take some more this year.






    Don't worry, the rooms are nice and clean, the hotel part of the building is in good condition :)
    Their site isn't too hi-tech and it says it's from 7th century, rather than 17th http://www.albergoorientale.191.…
    We used booking.com for reservation though.

    Cefalu - La Fenice. Run by an American girl who apparently moved back to where her family came from.
