Find a classy way to do something memorable on your way out. Instead of being the prick that everyone remembers for being a sore loser, be the guy who everyone remembers as understanding the situation at-hand, and who made light of it.
Better to be remember for being professional, than being remembered as the guy who moped and pouted around his last four days -- regardless or whether you're being laid off, fired, downsized, whatever you want to call it.
For instance, make a "thank you" card that reminds each person of your skills and talents, or a funny moment you shared together. In that same note, remind them that, "Hey, I'm available for freelance work now too."
