    So tonight my brother IMs me:

    "HEY!!! Are you there?? I got some tough news for you. I'm going to call you."

    I'm thinking, "Oh great, he's going to call me about another work furlough."

    He calls, I pick up.

    So...Hey. Our uncle in California? Well...he died earlier this afternoon. - my brother
    What? How?? - I asked.
    He was riding his bike. You know, one of those three-wheeled bikes with the flag? Yeah... - He said.
    Damn...*silence*... damn... - me
    Yeah. - him
    *sigh* - me

    It's an unfortunate and shit way to die.

    I called my father to tell him I love him. He cried a little. Because I never tell him that... Not because I don't love him but because we don't throw that phrase around the house very often or at all.

    I'm not as stoic as people think I am.
