    I don't think we have substituted one thing for the other (reality/symbols). Maybe more like writing (hard philosphical work and thought) by images and memes (which are easier to do, at the individual scale), by the sheer power of having mass-consumption and available technologies.

    We're living in "leisure" societies, after all. Wasn't that what we wanted?

    I guess we're transforming by the excess.
