yes they are like BMI and ASCAP - a licensing organization -but so should there not be a list then of who there members are - no? or is every single record label under them - i don't think so because the claim to represent Americans on their website - so how can they sue people who share songs from british or australian labels - or are they more international?
people (media) always talk about downloading music as if it's one big generic thing - i think they'll have to start looking at what songs are being shared -
if I made a song in my bedroom and I didn't want people to share it - and sold CDs of it it online but some people started ripping it an sharing it - there is no way the RIAA should be avle to sue them for that if i wasn't a member
so I guess then my question now is - how many labels are members of the riaa? any idea?
