there's a few things I don't understand and maybe someone can help me
how come the RIAA can sue people for sharing any copyrighted music - or is that not the case?
what I'm saying is that - they represent members of the US recording industry - and surely the RIAA doesn't own or have the copyright on all music - so how do they sue people for sharing files in general
nobody ever talks about this - is there a list of song titles that the RIAA somehow own the rights to? like if your sharing 1000s of copyrighted songs but they are all from groups outside of the US or with labels that have nothing to do with the RIAAA can they sue?
not sure if I'm being clear - but lets say I find out your stealing from Wallmart - there is no way I can sue you for theft - Wallmart would have to sue you - I can't start suing people for J-walking, even though it is illegal
so what's the deal - anybody know?
