it's not just the Americans. Entire Asia Pacific have been pumping pollutants into the environment for over a 50 years now.
not to mention you support environmental pollutants by buying products that contain any plastics, any kind of electronics, heavy metals or rare minerals ...
no way to escape it and blaming the Americans is too simple of a scapegoat
