1) Make a new folder on your local HD for your site, where ever you want.
2) Open Dreamweaver and create a new site, SITE > NEW SITE
3) Name yer site and point the LOCAL ROOT FOLDER to the folder you just made on your local HD (it's empty right now, I know)
4) Add your HTTP ADDRESS, below it
5) Click (to the left) on REMOTE INFO and choose (I'm presuming) FTP
6) Fill in your FTP credentials
7) Hit OK
8) From the FILES PANEL (WINDOW > FILES or F8) select REMOTE VIEW
9) It should take a sec for DW to communicate with your server because it's kind of slow as a dog, once it has you'll see all of your remote site contents, Highlight them
10) Once you've got all your files highlighted (high-lit?) press the DOWN arrow on the FILES PANEL (on hover it should say GET FILES or something)
11) DW should now download all of your remote files to the local folder you prescribed
12) Remember to get out of REMOTE view and back into LOCAL view on the FILES PANEL once you're all done downloading.OR
Use Transmit to gather all your files from your remote server and then set up a new DW site.
- Thanks Pylon, I'm going to go away and try this. I may end up in the middle of the road, naked and weeping, but it looks like the answer.temporary_name
