^ Thanks. I'm really very good at explaining myself because I'm just not a web person. Basically now I'm on my new machine I want to continue adding work to my website, but I don't know how. In Dreamweaver mx I had two columns in my site files window. The one on the right was the files at my remote server, the one on the left was a mirror copy situated on my hard disk. When I wanted to add something a dialogue box would say "This file is located outside your root folder do you want to copy it there?" and it would then add it to that root folder (I'm not even sure 'root folder' is the correct term).
Becuase its a fresh new machine and Dreamweaver app I no longer have a 'root folder' on my mac that Dreamweaver refers to... my site is not 'anchored' on my machine so there's no root folder to put things in to make changes and additions to my site.
I don't know if that helps any. I may have to abandon the enquiry due to a total lack of specialist vocabulary! but thanks if any can understand and help out... I'm trying to create a new 'root folder' for my website on my new machine so I can carry on adding to it.
