A person could spend hours here, just being here. But not really being here, having something on TV while something goes on outside. Not really being here. Weeks or months pass. The TV's still on, there's still something going on somewhere, but what is it? What the hell is it, and how can one find out, being attached this way, the mechanisms of strings attached to the fingertips so that the upstroke can only lift the fingers so far, the elastic drawback providing momentum for the next keystroke. Before long there's nothing, there might as well be nothing, outside.
Could there possibly be something better to be doing? A world to experience? A book, even a book to read? Light bulbs. Some of the light bulbs will need to be changed.
