It would be easier if you knew if the TV was 1080 or not but here's a solution which could work on either 720 or 1080. Just use any widescreen format (16:9). Make Flash go fullscreen.

But, here's the trick...bring in the images at much larger than the Flash Stage and then set smoothing to true. (allowSmoothing = true is done dynamically...or use the checkbox for allow smoothing in the library symbol's property panel). So, for example, if your Stage is 720x480 or whatever..bring the image in at larger than that (same proportions though)and scale down to the Stage size.

    • sweet thanks - really helpful
so gona go for the 1080 option because more likely to be shown on 42" - this sound ok?

    • Yeh, bigger is better. the 42" TV is most likely widescreen too. Make sure you set allowSmoothing so it will scale down gracefully.fyoucher1
    • ...down gracefully...fyoucher1
    • Also, allow smoothing has to be set for each image. It's not a global thing.fyoucher1
    • yeh thanks - was always gona smooth but didnt know if it would distort the image if it has to be shrunken to fit a 32"liveforever
