Apparently, they weren't the first to do that.
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspa…They were terrific when they were played by producer masters of puppets Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois: on Achtung Baby and most of all, Zooropa. These albums were milestones, actually they were sold as one at some point in some countries. U2 never came back to these heights, releasing crap ever since.
I never saw them play, but suppose they're still among the best acts to be seen live. The new single isn't as bad as the last album was, so there is hope...
