@moamoa: No worries, I didn't take the "anti-design" comment negatively, it just happens to be one of my talking points. You know how some clients don't see "whitespace" they only see "wasted space" and it drives all of us crazy? I feel the same way about the web.
I'm surprised about the link-style comments. A few people have commented on the fact that they're all blue. Yea. They are. (In fact there are two subtly different shades: darker blue for internal links and lighter blue for links that open in a new window.) What is so shocking about a website where the user knows with absolute clarity what text is a link and what is not? (And to have that consistent across all pages and navigation to boot!)
It's easy to make links have a different color. A different background color. Underlines. Borders. Background images, font faces, type styles, animations, etc. Easy. But stripping that down into a minimal form with consistent logic? Difficult.
You mention that it reminds you of Flickr, Google, or Facebook . . . Companies that are seriously invested in making sites that users can navigate easily. I imagine that's a good thing ;)
