    surely the only people banging about css being bad are those that can't get their head around it? css is a nightmare to start with (or at least was for me) but once you get up and running simply makes the table-days seem shite. tables are excellent for tabular data but there's no other place for them anymore - if you can use css effectively. if you prefer to use tables go nuts though. it's a free(ish) world in many places.
