    It's normal. The reason behind this is because of the nature of usage. Standard finder usage is usually going to be manipulating files that are within your user directory (home folder). People who aren't that savvy tend to go to places they really have no business, and fooling with permissions/deleting files (system folder). When you're attaching a file to an email, you aren't opening that file and manipulating, thus, no fouling up your system. Think of it as a security blanket.
