Pfft! Fuck Barbie! Fuck Ken! Fuck all these kind of toys - Beautician sets and fricking designer clothes for babies too!
"Look how many *things* Barbie has in her life - isn't she pretty? Isn't she successful? Isn't she desirable? Isn't she THIN?! - She Must Be Happy. She Is Surrounded By All That She Consumes!".
Such toys do nothing other than enforce outmoded social expectations and consumer desires - which jars heavily with the way we should develop our world - less focus on facade, fiscal aspiration and sheer consumption - more on what is important - on communication, education and understanding - of tolerance and respect for the environment.
The last thing I want to see is the World drowning itself in useless plastic chaff promoting more useless plastic chaff.
Ho-hum. That's not to say I agree with banning Barbie because of moral religious zeal - I'd just like to think that parents could grow up themselves a little. (Don't even get me started on Mobile Phones for 7 year olds)
