I went to London today. I took my gwife and child to Kings Cross and they have now gone on to 'grannies' up in Durham Dales. I planned to have an interesting time revisiting London as I haven't been there in leisure mode since I left in 04.
Thing is though I just walked around, utterly detached from a city I called home for 15 years. I walked from Kings Cross to Holborn, Covent Garden, Oxford Street, Marylebone High Street to baker's Street, down Bakers Street across Oxfrod Street down the posh roads of Mayfair, past the US Embassy, across by St James and down to Victoria, then I just got on a train and came home. I was not inspired to do a single thing, nor go into a single shop.

- What you were expecting? The thrill of the big city? Some melancholic tears?Fariska
- Something that made it a 'capital city'. It was Townsville, Anyplace, and it had a hangdog vibe.Horp
