I've learned this the hard way. Working for friends and/or family often ends in frustration, if it ends at all. Such jobs often get bogged down in indecision and lack of structure.
I've done a fair bit of free work for my church this year, and it's been extracted through the nose. Painfully and slowly. I had a conversation recently with a lady who works on church publications. She sharply disagreed with me when I told her that clip art is kitschy and banal in its insipid ubiquity, and that stock photography insults people with at least semi-functioning brains.
