Everywhere you look, you see stuff that is ugly. We as graphic designers struggle to make things look clean and refined and beautiful. But what if the opposite is true, that loud, ugly design is actually the most effective? Does that mean we are fighting a losing battle?

Beauty and Ugliness are both subjective.
What you may think its ugly, other people find stunning, they will consume that product, you wont.

    Why?
the product you consider to have a non attractive design never had the intention to seduce you in the first place.

You are not going to wear an ed hardy t shirt or have your girlfriend/ wife or daughter wear a pair of pants that say Juicy across her butt. But some people consider that to be great and original design.

    Simple as that.

Its all a matter of perception.
